Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is a simple chemical compound used during vaccine manufacturing to inactivate viruses or detoxify bacterial toxins. After this process, only small residual amounts may remain in the final product.

It is not an active ingredient in vaccines but a byproduct of the production process. Formaldehyde is also naturally present in the environment and produced in small amounts within the human body as part of normal metabolism.
