Thrombocytopenic purpura is a condition in which the body has an unusually low number of platelets, the blood cells that help stop bleeding.
People with this condition may bruise easily, develop tiny red or purple spots on the skin (called petechiae), or experience bleeding from the nose, gums, or other moist tissues.
